Could it be autism? Could it be ADHD? Let's find out together.
An assessment helps you understand a difficulty, answer a diagnostic question or identify strengths, needs and adjustments. Every process starts from your question, not from a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Explores whether the person's experiences and characteristics are consistent with a clinical or neurodevelopmental condition. A diagnosis provides a framework to understand the difficulties, guide intervention and, where relevant, access support and adjustments.
Skills assessment
What can they already do, and what would help?
Focuses less on classification and more on each person's profile: what they can already do, where difficulties arise, how they learn best and which adjustments can increase independence. It is the basis for designing an intervention programme.
Depending on the question, it may include:
Clinical interviewsDirect observationStandardised measuresQuestionnairesDevelopmental historyInput from family and school

05Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most.
01What is the difference between a diagnostic and a skills assessment?
A diagnostic assessment looks at whether a clinical or neurodevelopmental condition explains the difficulties. A skills assessment describes the person's profile (what they can already do, where they struggle and what could help) and is the basis for an intervention plan. The two often complement each other.
02How does an assessment work?
It depends on the question, but it usually includes interviews, direct observation, standardised tests and questionnaires, as well as the developmental history and input from family members or other professionals.
03Do I receive a report at the end?
Yes. At the end there is a written report, a feedback session to explain the results and practical recommendations for the next steps.
04Can the assessment be done in English?
Yes. We carry out assessments in English and in Portuguese, paying attention to the cultural questions of people living outside their home country.
05How much does it cost and how long does it take?
It depends on the type of assessment and the referral question. We give you the number of sessions, the cost and the timing before we start.
